We Bought A Pub!

On September 26th 2022, we bought a pub!
Myself as Landlord, together with my parents Derek and Joy. And not just any pub. In fact, we chose to buy one the nice pubs in Shrewsbury – a very special pub, The Mytton Arms. We have known about the pub for many years, with family members living in the area who visited the Mytton regularly over time. It was a dream of mine to one day own and run a pub, and in all honesty, it was only The Mytton Arms that was going to be that pub. And so it turned out, and the first four months or so have proven to be both a wonderful and challenging time.
With no experience at all, we threw ourselves into it and are quite literally living the dream. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the locals and regulars for making us feel so welcome, for their generosity of spirit, their patronage and support. It is greatly appreciated and we look forward to ensuring that the Mytton Arms remains at the very centre of village and community life for years to come. A special mention must go to the outgoing landlady Kate, and her partner Dickie, without whom the transition would have been far harder. Without all of their hard work over the past 15 years, the pub wouldn’t be what it is today.
If we can emulate their success, then we won’t be doing a bad job. My mantra coming in was: ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. We have strived to not change the Mytton and from what we see and hear, everyone seems happy and relieved that their pub is still the same as it always was.
That isn’t to say that change isn’t coming – it is – and already I feel we have added our own particular way of doing things that has been largely well received. In the near future, this website is about to go live, accompanied by a rebranding of the pub that will include a new pub sign. Great care has been taken to stay true to the previous design whilst at the same time updating it, and giving it a more classical look. We hope that when unveiled, this will be both evident, and appreciated.
