Community Jam at The Mytton

We’re on a mission to cement The Mytton Arms as one of the best pubs in Shrewsbury! We recently acquired a piano, which was going free from the local Primary School. It now has pride of place in the pub where the fruit machine once resided.
Since adding the piano to the space, we have already enjoyed a few evenings of music and song – most noticeably when we rung in the New Year to the tune of Auld Lang Syne! That night inspired the idea of a regular Community Jam, where any and all local musicians and vocalists would be encouraged to come to the pub with an instrument they play, accompanied with their best singing voices, for an afternoon of jamming together and entertaining the pub.
In early January 2023, the first iteration of the idea was realised and a great afternoon was had by all, with the rendition of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars just spellbinding! It was agreed by everyone who attended that this should (and will!) become a regular feature of a Sunday afternoon at the Mytton. With a guitar now also acquired, courtesy of a regular, the ensemble of instruments is slowly but surely growing. Keep an eye out in the Events section of our website and on our Social Media channels for the next scheduled Community Jam and feel free to come along and participate!
